First Intervention Team’s training courses are accredited by numerous awarding bodies including FAIB, City and Guilds and ECITB.
First Intervention has fully qualified instructors and verifiers, so our clients can rest assured they are receiving the most up to date and professional training.
a. COSHH Awareness
This Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Awareness course raises awareness of the dangers involved in working with hazardous substances. It covers risk assessment, risk reduction measures, legislation and key responsibilities of the individual.
b. Manual Handling
The Manual Handling course is designed to reduce injuries in the workplace by improving awareness of personal safety within employees. The course meets the necessary legal obligations to train employees in manual handling and risk assessments.
c. Working at Height
Working at Height Training is specifically designed for a person working at height, ensuring delegates fully understand the safest way to use height safety equipment. We offer a wide range of working at height courses that can be designed for your operatives, supervisors and managers.
d. Risk Assessment
This one-day course is aimed at those required to conduct or oversee safety and fire safety risk assessments.
e. CCNSG Safety – Passport recognised by the Petrochemical, Power and Steel industries.
This recognised course teaches a basic knowledge of Health & Safety prior to personnel working on site. The Client Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) offer a Safety Passport for the skills acquired in this 2-day course.
f. CCNSG Safety Renewal
The Safety Passport Renewal course is designed as a refresher course for those that have already passed the CCNSG Safety Passport National course and allows them to keep their CCNSG Passport up to date.
g. Authorised Gas Testers
The Authorised Gas Tester courses equip an operative with the knowledge to conduct gas tests for oxygen levels, flammable and toxic gases safely. It includes gas testing within confined spaces, measuring and monitoring equipment and documenting gas test results.
h. Gas Detection Awareness
This course is a more in-depth look at the hazards that exist with special gases. Our Gas Detection Course aims to mitigate risk by covering the application and practical use of gas detection instruments and their limitations.
i. Respiratory Awareness
This introductory Respiratory Awareness course will teach you about the use of respirators. Delegates will learn how to understand breathing volume and how to monitor the air quality of various work areas.
j. Authorised Gas Testers
This course covers the use and limitations of personal and area gas detectors, including theoretical and practical demonstrations of there use in different scenarios. The course is in two parts, the first being class room cased, the second being carried out in the field under the guidance of a First Intervention mentor.
a. Confined Space Working inc Escape Breathing Apparatus – CS1
This 1-day course will provide you with a thorough understanding of the dangers of working in confined spaces. The CS1 course concentrates on how to safely enter, work in and exit confined spaces and explains procedures around Escape Breathing Apparatus.
b. Confined Space Working inc Self Contained Breathing Apparatus – CS2
CS2 will provide you with a thorough understanding of the dangers of working in confined spaces in full breathing apparatus. This 2-day course explains the procedures and regulations around working with Escape Breathing Apparatus and fully contained Breathing Apparatus.
c. Confined Space Working inc Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and the addition of Emergency First Aid and Casualty Care
The 3 day training course includes all the content from CS1 and CS2 training courses with the addition of Emergency First Aid, Casualty Care and how to issue permits.
d. Vessel Entry Controller
This course is designed for operatives in the role of Vessel Entry Controller who may need to supervise an entry into a confined space. Covering legislation, methods of risk control and the use of appropriate safety equipment.
e. Breathing Apparatus and Trolley Set Awareness
Feel confident using highly specialised equipment in your workplace with this concentrated course that focuses on Breathing Apparatus and Trolley Set Awareness.

a. Basic Life Support (CPR & Defibrillator)
The Basic Life Support course will enable delegates to improve a casualty’s chance of survival in the event of cardiac arrest. You will learn how to administer CPR and how to safely set up and operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
b. Emergency First Aid (1-day) FAIB Approved Course
Be prepared for an accident or sudden illness in the workplace. This 1-day course will provide you with the relevant knowledge to assess an incident and the skills to manage a casualty administering emergency First Aid.
c. First Aid at Work (3-day) FAIB Registered Course
First Aid at Work is an accredited 3-day course aimed at workplaces looking to register a new First Aider. All delegates will be prepared for both emergency and non-emergency situations.
d. Paediatric First Aid
The Paediatric First Aid course has been specifically designed for childcare professionals i.e. nursery workers, child minders. It’s also highly suitable for parents and their families. It teaches invaluable skills for responding to accidents and certain medical conditions when working with children and babies.
a. Fire Safety Awareness (incl. practical)
This Fire Safety Awareness course gives excellent advice and tips for improving fire safety in your organisation in line with the current legislation. Including a live fire extinguishing module.
b. Practical Fire Extinguisher
This succinct, hands-on course teaches the correct procedures in the event of fire. You will learn how to extinguish different classifications of fire with the use of appropriate extinguishers.
c. Fire Responsible Person
This course outlines the knowledge of fire safety rights and responsibilities required from a Responsible Person. Including fire risk assessment and providing fire safety information and training to staff.
d. Fire Warden
The Fire Warden/Marshal course will provide the delegate with a good level of fire safety knowledge to be able to assist the Responsible Person in compliance with their legal obligations.
e. Evacuation Procedures
We offer bespoke Evacuation Training courses designed to the requirements of your premises, this can be as an add-on to the fire warden training or as a stand alone course.
