Emergency First Aid at Work (1-day)

FAIB Approved Course

This Emergency First Aid course is delivered by trainers with real-life experience dealing with first aid emergencies (trained firefighters). This training course will provide you with the relevant knowledge to assess an incident and the skills to manage a casualty administering emergency First Aid.

Be prepared for an accident or sudden illness in the workplace. Our aim is to build confidence in how to act in life-threatening situations by teaching emergency first aid skills in a clear and concise 1-day course.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the training course students should be able to:

  • Understand the role of the First Aider
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries

Course Content

This course covers:

  • Assessing the casualty and situation
  • The unconscious casualty
  • Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of AED
  • Head Injuries
  • Choking and asthma
  • Severe bleeding
  • Shock
  • The first aid kit and reporting procedures
  • Heart attack, seizures and diabetes
  • Burns and scalds
  • Fractures

Who should take this course?

This course is aimed at anyone who has been identified as a first aider in the workplace.

What is the qualification?

Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate approved by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).

How long will the qualification last?

Your certificate is valid for 3 years.

How long does the course take to complete?

This is a 1-day course.

Any special requirements?

There are no pre-requisites to take this course, however delegates are required to take active participation in practical elements of the course to show competency in order to achieve certification.
